Introduction

My name is Denny R Hughes. I have lived in Fort Lauderdale for 36 years. Upon completing high school I began working for The School Board of Broward County. After ten years of service I decided I wanted more so I moved to Boston to work for a dot com. I worked for a couple of years before the dot com bust.

I was lucky enough to be able to come back to my home in Fort Lauderdale and began buying several homes around me in the neighborhood to rehab. This was the when the market in South Florida was just starting to take off. I was having fun. Money was good. I was learning to rehab the properties myself. I had fun tiling, electrical, plumbing, etc.

However, the day came that I got tired of smashed and sliced fingers. Burn hair is not a smell that ever grows on you, lol. SO, I got my real estate license. I was fortunate enough to work for a boutique broker who also was a Correspondent Lender. I got my mortgage broker's license within a few months of getting my real estate license. I had a lot of fun and the road was hard.

After the requisite year I applied for my broker's license. I decided that was where the money was at so I did the requisite coursework and testing and became a broker. I knew the timing was right because I had just sold a 2 million dollar property and collected a healthy commission and used that money to start my own office. That will be a story for another day.

I had a lot of fun selling real estate, fixing up houses I owned and doing property management. I hired a few agents and a few admins. Then the hurricanes came. All of South Florida was blown to hell. The real estate market seemed to just stop in its tracks. This too is a conversation for another day.

I live in Wilton Manors on the water. I love my home and my neighborhood. I share my home with my partner, Adam, of over two years and our 3 dogs. Savannah is a Shepherd, Oscar and Griffin are both Jack Russells. I have been blessed recently with the ability to offer free foreclosure counseling as well as investor mentoring. More to come...
